I can describe the structure of a Short Story

Something I have learned about the structure of short stories is: That the problem comes quickly.

After reading some short stories two things I will remember when I write my own short story are Get to the point quickly and Finish the story quickly.

Mean, Median, Mode and range

Mean: e.g the numbers are 5, 3, 9, 3. First you ad all the numbers together which is: 20 then you divide 20 by how many numbers you had to add which is 4 so you do 20 divided by 4 which makes 5 and that is the final answer

Median: e.g: if you use 6, 7, 2, 5 and 4 you will have to order them smallest to biggest which would be 2, 4, 5, 7 and 9. The next thing you do is identify the number that is in the middle of it which in this case would be 5, and that is the median


Mode: The mode is the amount of numbers you see the most e.g if the numbers were: 4, 7, 9, 7 the mode would be 7 as you see seven twice, but if you took out one of the 7's there would be now mode.


Range: the range is getting the biggest number and subtracting the smallest number from it. e.g 4, 7, 7, 9.
The biggest number is 9 and the smallest is 4 so you would subtract 4 from 9 which is 5 and that is the range.

Exposition - Evaluating Leaders

Leadership is a very important skill that some people excel in. These two people have showed this skill in the past. The two leaders I'm comparing is past prime minister Helen Clark and important historian Kate Sheppard.

Helen Clark is known for being the Prime Minister of New Zealand for 9 years (1999 - 2008.) She has shows a lot of leadership skills while being prime minister, but one the skills she has used from the start was resilience. She never gave up, especially in the 1996 election when her party didn't win, but that didn't stop her to try again in the 1999 election when she won. An example of her resilience that she shows now are the newspaper articles about her that might not come across in a positive way but she gets through it. Another trait that she has shown during her reign as prime minister is active thinking.

As a prime minister you have to come up with ways to improve New Zealand as a whole and Helen Clark did in some ways. She came up with many ideas, here are a few, She increased the minimum wage 5% a year, Interest free student loans, and one thing she did that affected and helped the world was when she contributed some New Zealand soldiers to the Afghanistan war. These are two out of many traits Helen used while she was Prime Minister. Helen Clark is a well known and respected woman in New Zealands history but so is the next leader we're comparing.

So here is the mode.
A mode is the amount
of numbers you see the most.
In this instance the mode is six

The Median is the number in the middle of the set. So first you order numbers smallest to biggest and you identify the number in the middle and that will be the median.

Visual Art

Visual Art: WALT: Apply knowledge about shapes and patterns derived from nature into an original artwork.

For Visual Art the SOLO level I achieved was: relational Because I have some knowledge about the shapes.

I techniques I used in my art was blending colours together.

My next step in visual art is: Try to use a bigger range of techniques.

Term 1 integrated learning - leadership

We have been learning all about What makes a good leader.

Here is a link to the Leadership modelling book.

We identified that good leaders show 6 main character traits. These are Integrity, Active Thinker, Trustworthy, Resilient, Goal Focused and Motivational

The leadership trait that I think I show the most is Integrity because Integrity covers alot of things like Honesty, pride etc.

The leadership trait I would most like to develop is motivational because motivating people is such an important thing.

Something NEW I have learned about leadership is important ways to show these traits.

The SOLO level that I reached during this unit of learning is Extended Abstract because I know how to describe and show the leadership traits.

My next step in learning about leadership is to apply everything that I have learned about leadership to my own leadership roles.
