Apply Striking and Fielding activities in a range of sports and activities.

My Strengths

The striking strategies I was able to effectively demonstrate during the games we played were Hitting it really hard but having control over where I was hitting the ball.

The throwing and catching strategies I was able to effectively demonstrate during the games we played were To keep your eyes on the ball when fielding so you know where the ball is going and you know who's going to catch the ball.

My Next Steps

To improve my striking of a ball I need to Get more distance into it because I was very close to being caught out.

To Improve my catching and fielding I need to step forward so I can attempt to catch the ball because I would think someone who is better at catching would run over to catch it but I should've gave it a go.

The game that I enjoyed the most was Rounders because I was a fast pace game and it helped me the most with my striking and fielding skills.

Apply standard form, significant figures, rounding, and decimal place value

W.A.L.T: Apply standard form, significant figures, rounding, and decimal place value

This is my maths Goal and how I did it is when you divide decimals you take the point and move it one to the left as 10 only have 1 zero and that make 86.217 and that is how you solve it. if you are use times tables you move the point one to the right.

At Technology and on the bus.

Yesterday I had Technology and it was the last lesson of wood work, which was ashame as wood work is personally one of my favourite things to do at technology.
I made a little blue holder to hold my lip balms, I really liked painting it as I was trying to make it a light blue colour.
On the bus I think I did well as I followed the expectations.
The Care value I used was Respect as I followed the expectations.

The impact of the social media on a student’s health and well-being (homework challenge)

The impact of the social media on a student’s health and well-being

Social Media can have a massive impact on our health and well-being, considering the fact that it used so frequently now.

Social media can have a mix of being good for our health or not. it might not be good for our health as we're looking at a screen, It also isn't good if we're not going outside and being active.

A positive with social media for our health that alot of people make pages, that have information that can help students and also it's a form of entertainment that alot of students enjoy.

For well-being something that isn't good for our well-being is all the cyber bully's that we have online and that doesn't make social media very positive from that perspective.

But a positive can be that social media is a way to express yourself and just do things that you specifically enjoy and that can be really good for our well-being.

Overall there are more negatives then positives for our health and well-being as it is affecting our health alot, as for the convince of social media as obesity level rises social media takes alot of the blame for that. People are now lacking social skills.

I can describe the author's purpose in relation to structure and language choices in a text and give relevant evidence (eg vocabulary used)

W.A.L.T I can describe the author's purpose in relation to structure and language choices in a text and give relevant evidence (e.g vocabulary used)
This is my Authors Purpose sheet what we had to do was read a text and say 3 types of language and 3 types of structure the author used e.g Bias. We also had to say if the text was a persuasive text, a entertaining text and a informative text.

L5 Author’s Purpose follow up
I can describe the author's purpose in relation to structure and language choices in a text and give relevant evidence (e.g vocabulary used)
I can compare and contrast differences in the author's purpose in relation to structure and language choices between different texts.
Text:
The Rat
The author’s purpose is Entertain because it is fiction story that is written out as a diary for people  enjoyment

The specific language/ structure choices that the author has made to support their purpose are, that the writer wrote this piece of writing like a diary and used colourful headings of the diary entries and also made colourful pictures. The language they used were slang they also made it 1st person view and lastly they used descriptive language talking about how she feels about her dad not having a job

Specific language choices in the 3 texts:
They are all very descriptive and are rather casual.

none of them are informative.

They all at some point used technical language. describing how they feel how how people feel

Structure of the 3 texts:
They are all not written like typical stories they are written in letters diary’s and plays.

The writing was all organised because as when you just finished reading a paragraph/sentence another paragraph/sentence would come up all organised into place.

The writing is written level it is all in lines and paragraphs.
Similarities

They are all very descriptive and are rather casual.

none of them are informative.

They all at some point used technical language. describing how they feel how how people feel

Similarities

They are all not written like typical stories they are written in letters diary’s and plays.

The writing was all organised because as when you just finished reading a paragraph/sentence another paragraph/sentence would come up all organised into place.

The writing is written level it is all in lines and paragraphs.
Text:

Graffiti
The author’s purpose is persuade because their writing there opinion on graffiti

The specific language/ structure choices that the author has made to support their purpose are strong language The Structure was written as a whole blob not really any paragraphs they also wrote it like a letter as it was writing their opinion they also wrote it in 1st person saying their point of view in everything.
The language they used were descriptive using lots of adjectives, also very formal language and very technical language.

Text: Stop that punctuation!

The author’s purpose is… Entertain because this is writing as a play and plays are usually for entertainment also it was more quirky then most of the texts I have read.

The specific language/ structure choices that the author has made to support their purpose the structure they used was lines as it was a play and they used a lot of colour in words they also used illustrations to support their purpose.
The language they used was slang, comedic and 3rd person language.

Differences
Stop that punctuation and The Rat have colloquial language (slang)
and one of them is more stronger language.

Graffiti and The Rat are written as 1st person but as for stop punctuation it is written 3rd person

only the rat and stop that punctuation used comedic language to come across more of a funny/entertaining text while Graffiti is much more serious and trying to get there point across.

Differences
They all come across very different as some 1 is more comedic one is pausausave and one is just generally more entertaining.

The rat and stop that punctuation contain illustrations and Graffiti is just written as a letter with no illustrations.

Stop that punctuation had colour on the writing as it was a play but graffiti’s and the rat’s writing was just black.

We were learning about changing the flag and doing research on other peoples opinion on changing the flag.
I think I went well, even though I had an opinion on it I tried to stay open minded.

Overall the evidence for this side is weak because Most of these points are opinions that a group of people agree on because they want the flag to be changed.

Overall the evidence for this side is strong because most of these statements are more factual as they’re common knowledge.

Kapa Haka

Today I did Kapa Haka and it was super fun going over all the songs we did last year.
I remember the actions and on our poi song we had to pretend we had a poi as we didn't have them.
I'm also very excited to do long poi.
Over all i'm getting used to getting back into Kapa Haka.
The Care value I used was community because I was getting into Kapa Haka

Liberian

Today I had Liberian which is Reading to the little kids.
I was reading Barbie books to some girls as those were the kind of books they liked.
The hardest thing about the job for e is carrying the bean bags as they are rather heavy but I still find reading to the little kids fun though

Kapa Haka

Today I had Kapa Haka.
We mainly practised the school song and some other songs that we did last year.
I enjoyed remembering the actions as they just came back to me.
Overall I really enjoyed this weeks session of Kapa Haka.
The Care value I used was community because I made sure to stay committed even though I really wanted to do long poi

Running Games With Little Kids (helping out around the school)

Today Polly and I were running mini games with the little kids.
We ran a few games as  little kids get bored very easily the games we played were what's the time Mr Wolf, Tricky tag, sneak up Granny.
It was rather hard at some points because some little kids can be difficult especially if they don't get it there own way. But overall I really enjoyed help though. I hard point is when a little kid wants it one way but everyone else wants it another way so we had to be open minded and try and do both ways.

The Care value I used was Active Thinking because sometimes it was hard but I still tried.

Leadership Food Forest

Over the past 2 days the year 8's have been helping out in the garden behind room 12 and 13.
The first thing we did was have the year fours collect the seeds we will need and out them in an envelope to use next spring for the garden. We have also been helping the juniors out in station like P.E and doing inside activity's like art, drawing etc. I was helping the little kids with play dough and making animals out of it.
I also helped with spelling and writing storeys on white boards. I have really been enjoying working with the little kids too.

Being a role model

Today it was the first day of not having the year 7's as they were on camp.
So the year 8's were helping out with the little kids.
I think I helped out in a way because after lunch the group I was in was helping out in a junior class and we had to be a role model.
Also I was teaching the P.E with the Hula-Hoops so I had to be a role model then also.
The Care value I used was Community as I got involved and tried to be a good role model.
