Kapa Haka

Today I had Kapa Haka.
I wasn't at Kapa Haka the previous week thanks to me being sick so I was looking forward to this weeks kapa haka as I felt like it had been a while.
Once everyone got there we all sat down and the teachers said that we will be forming our lines for our last performances of the year. (The are 3.)
They got the four tallest year 8's that were there that day. I was included as a lot of taller people were away that day.
So the four people lined up and the teachers just set people up around us to make a triangle.
It did take a while, but I had to make sure to stand still so the teachers knew where the center was.
Once the lines were set up we had to rotate ourselves around to be facing the other way. Once that was done we practiced our songs.
First, we practiced one of the newest songs, there was one slight problem with that, I forgot the action as I was their last week!
plus to make things even harder I was at the front at had barely any people to copy off!
The second song we performed was a slow song which was much easier and had no actions and I knew all the words.
After that, we performed our school song!
Once we performed all the song we could go back to class and enjoy morning tea.
OverallI really enjoyed Kapa Haka as I felt like it had been a while and also I liked performing the songs.

Care Value:
The care value I used was Respect as I made sure to stand still to help the teachers form the lines for our performances.

Leadership Trait:
The leadership trait I used was resilience because me trying to do the actions was an epic fail but I still tried to remember them.

Role Model:
I was a role model by making sure to listen and try and follow the actions to the song.

Librarian

Today I had librarian.
Firstly before school this week my friends and I would be in the library and help out if Mrs Ward wasn't there and someone had a book to return.
Also this week it was raining and Alicia and I wanted to get out of the classroom so we went to the library and Mrs Ward asked us to move a table and put a few books away for her.
Personally, I really like returning books as there is something pretty fun about it.
I also had reading to the juniors today which I always like to do.
The library was actually closed today but I asked if Alicia and I could still do reading to the juniors as I really wanted to blog about it.
As the library was closed we didn't bring bean bags, just books.
After Alicia and I chose our books we walked over to the junior area.
while reading to a little girl these other girls came over so I changed my book to an interesting book as the other one they found boring.
It was a long lego friends book with quite a bit of information.
The book to quite a while to read and finish so afterward I asked Alicia if she wanted to pack up as we need to put the books away.
So after we packed our books up we walked back to the library to put all of our books and anything else away.
Overall reading to the juniors went very well today as we had some good books to read and the juniors listened very well.

Care Value:
the care value I used was Community for getting involved and doing librarian as i could've not done it as the library was closed.

Leadership Trait:
the leadership trait I showed was active thinker because I made sure to chose the best book to read as it was long and I had to make sure it was simple for them.

Role model:
I was a role model because I made sure to get involved and just do librarian.

Parliament

This term we have been learning about Parliament. We have looked at the difference between government and parliament, NZ parliament, who is in government, how our government works and we compared democracy to dictatorship.

Three things that I learned are NZ parliament are:

  • How limited dictatorship is and how lucky we are for being a democracy country.
  • In parliament house people's roles and what they do.
  • How many people sit in Parliament and where the parties sit.

Here is the link to my compare and contrast map explaining the difference between democracy and dictatorship.

E4. Plan an overseas holiday for your family. Budget for flights, accommodation, food and activities. Present your itinerary.

New York:

Flights:
Flying to new york with 4 adults using emirates costs $13,591.

Hotels:
High end: Waldorf Astoria (Breakfast and Wifi) $484, per night.
Lower End: Pod 51 Hotel $269, per night.

Activities:
Visit the empire state building. If you wanted to visit the empire state building there are 2 main options, you can go for a standard tour which costs $208 for 4 adults (You would be touring the 86th, 102nd floor, main deck and top deck.)

Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
This one is a cheaper options as it only costs $18 per adult, so for $72 for 4 adults.

Chinatown:
You can go to China Town if you want to go shopping or if you want to go to a restaurant.

Restaurants:
A high end restaurant is per se, it is a high end restaurant which has great reviews and very good chefs.

A lower end restaurant is le bernardin, it still had very good reviews and is a lot cheaper.

Overall I think New York would be a wonderful place to visit, even though it is very expensive.
Personally I would love to go to a big department store in New York, but it still would be a dream come true to go to New York in general. I would want to go shopping and broadway especially.

Librarian

Today and yesterday I had librarian.
Firstly I decided to helpZainab and Alicia at librarian because I didn't do it last Friday as I wasn't there.
Firstly on Thursday we went over to the junior area as usual and read our books I read to to quite a few little kids and it was pretty enjoyable as they were quiet.
Withy little kids, if you read to quite a lot one or two of them will end up walking off but it wasn't too bad as a lot of little kids can be challenging.
I read the usual books I would read as they're the most popular. (preferably books that are pretty or involve the word princess.)
Today when I read to the little kids it was pretty fun, some of them very very excited as the holidays were coming up.
I decided to change the books up and have a more interesting look at the books to see what to read, I made sure to find a Disney based book which was foxes and hounds.
When I read foxes and hounds I notice it was a bit too long so I shortened it, I can do that as it still makes sense and they don't seem to notice!
They also liked the other books I read like Clifford the big red dog.
Overall the past two days I had a swell time at librarian.

Role Model:
I was a role model by making sure to put the books back in the right place.

Leadership Trait:
The leadership trait I showed was active thinker because I usually read very similar book but today I decided to read something very different nd it worked.

Care Value:
The care value I showed was community as I got involved while doing librarian and helping out.

Kapa Haka

Today I had Kapa Haka.
I decided not to bring my long poi as I was very sure we weren't going to need it.
Once I got there I took off my shoes and waited with Makayla as the class who were doing Te-Reo Maori weren't quite finished yet.
Once we could go inside we sat in our lines and sang a song.
After that we went through a song we have recently learnt that had actions, I was aa but concerned as I wasn't there last Friday and I vaguely remember the actions of the first part of the song, but had no clue about the actions to the second part of the song.
I tried to make it not obvious that I had no idea how to do the actions to the second part of the song so I just tried and I just tried to copy the people in front of me.
Matua went through two actions that we weren't doing right and then we practised the song again.
The actions weren't too hard at this point as we thankfully in this song had repeated actions so I wasn't completely lost.
After a while I was starting to get to much better and memorised most of the actions!
Todays Kapa Haka [ractice was pretty short but still helped me a lot!
Overall today's kapa haka practice went very well and I'm getting better at the actions.

Role model:
I was a role model because I was listening and paying attention.

Leadership Trait:
The leadership trait I showed was resilience because I was messing up the action quite a bit but I still didn't give up

Care Value:
The care value I showed was community because I was really getting involved and trying my best.

I can take action to improve the water cycle in Canterbury

In this project I was working with Alicia and Zainab and we decided to create a water filter

Here is a link what we made Youtube video

In this project we decided that our success criteria were:
A good TV ad, water filter or Children’s Story needs...
Why is this important?

Needs to be able to produce drinkable water.
Because if the water is not clean bacteria spreads and people get sick.
Need to be strong.
So it doesn’t break and It can carry all the weight in it.
Needs to be long lasting.
So you don’t have to make new water filters all of the time.
Needs to have the right materials.
Because without the right materials the water filter wouldn’t work.
It needs to be able to work in different areas.
Because all water filters are built for different countries and areas.

Overall our project met the criteria because it did actaully make fresh water.... after a while. But it was good because we also cleaned what was inside my water filter and then it made clean and fresh water. Plus we were pretty lucky as a reasonable amount of water came out so we could have a good look at it.

Music

W.A.L.T I can describe the characteristics of music from songs of a different time and place

Over the past 7 weeks I have been learning to describe the characteristics of music from songs of a different time and place

I can describe these characteristics in a piece of music: Form, (different types of voices and instruments put into a piece of music.) Melody, (usually known as the part that gets stuck in your head.) Timbre, (The part of the music that makes it unique.) Harmony (when voices are put together.) Rhythm ( a catchy song with a catchy beat.)

Here is an example of my learning music sheet

Kuru Games (kauri Team Event)

This week the year 7/8s had kuru games.
I was representing Oaklands in girls football and I think we did okay.
On the first day we had the opening ceremony and giving out badges, personally I don't find the opening ceremony very interesting but I knew we were always going to have it anyway.
After the opening ceremony we had to go our fields/courts we were playing at, so football and netball went together.
Onx=ce we got there we had to put our gear on and get reaady as we were all haveing a game soon.
I was feeling excited and nervous all at the same time, when we started to warm up for our gameIstarted to feel even more nervous, but when we started playing I felt okay.
Sadly we lost the games we played on the first day, but it didn't bother me too much as I had so much fun.
The second day was filled with lots of football as we played 3 games, our last game finished on a penalty shootout.
I really didn't want to take the penalty but the teachers asked me to so I did it anyway.
I had to take one for the team and go first which really wasn't what I wanted to do.
I was very nervous and missed, but only one person in our team got it in and I felt so happy for them!
On the last day we had 2 games and the team we lost to on penalty the previous day we had to verse again.
the game ended 0-0 so we had to do penaltys again!!!
I actually got asked again which surprised m but I still tried my best.
I was less nervous and aimed it much better, sadly their goal keeper was goo and dived on the ball.
After all the football games we had the closing ceremony which went very well.
Overall I really enjoyed kuru games and will miss it as it is my last kuru games.

Role model:
I was a role model because I made sure to lisen to the teachers when they were giving instruction.

Leadership Trait:
The leadership trait I showed was resilience because even when we were losing I can still say I tried my best.

Care Value:
The care value I showed was community because I made sure to really get involved.

Kapa haka

Today I had Kapa Haka.
I was pretty happy to have kapa haka today as we didn't have to last week.
We talked about the cultural performance Festival performance for a bit and how we got some really go feedback from it.
We also have to other performances coming up this year which areprize giving and the Gala, so to prepare for them we are learning 2 new songs!
The song we were learning today was a song that was done 2 years ago from out 2014 cultural festival.
I didn't know the song as I was in kapa haka that year but I was excited to learn it!
Firstly we went through the song and learnt the lyrics, then we learnt actions.
I think I kind of know the actions, we didn't learn all of them, but we learnt at least half.
I personally really like the beat of the song and the actions which is good!
Also this week we had the Kapa Haka photos, sadly it did take a very long time as there are a lotof people in kapa haka but I had sure to be quiet and be a role model.
Overall I had a good week for kapa haka anf I made sure to be a good role model even if times got a little hard.

Role Model:
I was a role model because at some points lots of people weren't listening when the teachers were trying to teach us the actions, but I made sure to listen.

Care Value:
The care value I showed was active thinking as I had to think if a good was I was going to learn all the actions for the song.

Leadership trait:
The leadership Trait I showed was resilience as the kapa haka photos did take a very long time but being really noisy wouldn't make the time go faster.

librarian

As I couldn't do librarian this week, I'm deciding to blog about the librarian school photos and other things.
Firstly we had to go and wait outside the hall foyer because there was another class currently have their school photos taken.
It did get a little loud as we were doing the Librarian photos while  lunch time was happening and people were coming in and out.
I just waited with my friends until we could go into the hall to get our pictures taken.
For the photos we had to line up shortest to tallest and get into lines. As only years 7/8's are librarians I was in the taller row, I also noticed that there weren't any boys in librarian which I thought was pretty weird!
I didn't have to wait too long for everyone else to be given a position to stand or sit for the photo which was really good.
Also this week I helped out in the library during the morning, as I was originally going there to return a book with my friends and we noticed that Mrs Ward wasn't there so we decided to help and scan books and do returns until she came back.
I personally really like helping in the library as I find it pretty fun to scan the books.
Overall I think I had a good week for doing librarian related things and being a good role model for helping out.

Role Model:
I was a role model as I was being very quiet when I was standing waiting for the photo to be taken, as I was one for the first people to be given somewhere to stand.

Care Value:
The care value I showed was Community as I got involved and helped out in the library.

Leadership trait:
The leadership trait I showed was resilience as photos can be very boring as it's mostly just standing around but I was still very quiet.

Kapa Haka

As Kapa Haka wasn't on today I'm deciding to blog about cultural festival.
So this week was cultural and Oaklands performed on the Tuesday.
We went to a practice during school time which was pretty fun, at the practice we had 9 minutes to go over our performance, I thankfully didn't mess up but I did find during the poi song we were quite close together.
After the practice we go to this area and go over what will happen tonight.
On the night of the cultural festival we met outside at around 6:00 I got there I but earlier though.
When everyone was there we made sure everyone had the correct uniform, the girls had to wear a head bands and the year 8 girls had to wear feather earrings.
After everyone was ready we went inside to go and watch the festival, Oaklands were the last school to perform so we got to watch all the other performances first.
Once we got told that it was time to go backstage we went and got into out lines.
I was very nervous about performing in case I messed up!
The first song went really well and I was starting to feel more confident.
in the poi song, I didn't mess up! Which was so relieving.
In the last song it went very well also and after that another school came on to sing with us.
Overall the cultural festival went really well.

Role Model:
I was a role model as I made sure to listen to the lady who was telling us the rules.

Care Value:
The care Value I showed was excellence because I really gave it my all for the performance.

Leadership Trait:
The leadership trait I used was active thinker because I had to really make sure I was in a good position for the poi song so my poi didn't hit anyone elses.

Librarian

Today and yesterday I did librarian.
Firstly yesterday I was helping out Alicia and Zainab first,we got some books, we decided not to bring the bean bags and just grab some books and head to the junior area.
Once we were at the junior area we got some little kids and read to them. The books I read were obviously barbie books as there were so many in the box Thankfully lots of them I haven't read before so I just read them anyway.
After reading a few long ones we headed back to the library and returned the books.
For today's library we brought bean bags and put them in a shady area I read to quite a few little kids as it was very hot at lunchtime.
The only problem having a bean bag is that when you even leave it for 1 second a little kid jumps on it, but thankfully that didn't happen today!
overall yesterdays and todays session of library went very well as we had a good amount of little kids listening to out books

Role Model:
I was a role model as I was getting involved and helping out.

Leadership Trait:
The leadership trait I used was active thinker because it was a very hot day and it wouldn't be good to put the bean bags somewhere where it's really hot.

Care Value:
the care value I used was Excellence because I read as many as I could books until we had to go and return the books.

The Water Cycle

The Water Cycle, also known as the hydrologic cycle is a continuous - system of how we get our water.
During the cycle water comes in three stages, liquid, solid and gas. There are also 5 steps of the cycle known as evaporation, condensation, precipitation, runoff and groundwater.

Evaporation
Evaporation is the unofficial first step of the water cycle, furthermore the sun plays a massive part in evaporation. When the sun beats down on rivers, lakes and oceans and invisible substance known as water vapor rises up. On a cold day the water vapor turns into fog. Once the water vapor goes higher we experience condensation and precipitation.

Condensation and precipitation
Condensation and precipitation are different stages of the water cycle; But they are both major parts of it. Condensation is usually known as that stuff on our window from the hot are hitting the cold air and it's just like that in the water cycle, except when the water vapor rise up (towards the sky) the temperature gets colder and colder, in the end the water vapor becomes part of a cloud. When the cloud gets to big it falls down to earth as either sleet, snow, hail or obviously rain, that's called precipitation. So we have talked about evaporation, condensation and precipitation now we are talking about something that doesn't end with "ation."

Runoff and groundwater
Once precipitation has fallen back to earth it could fall into a river/stream which is called runoff or it could fall into soil and it will sink in and make a well with dirt above it and that's what we call groundwater. You can find groundwater no matter what country you live in.

So that was the stages of the water cycle, so what people don't know is that we never get new water, it is recycled over and over again. Technically there is no start to the water cycle also.

I can apply my knowledge of adverbial clauses and connectives to see how ideas are linked in texts.

I can apply my knowledge of adverbial clauses and connectives to see how ideas are linked in texts.Screen Shot 2014-10-09 at 11.04.56 am.png

For reading I have been learning about adverbial clauses. I have found this learning surprisingly easy easy because if you do a reasonable amount of research you will find exactly what an adverbial clause is.

In this activity ( Activity!) I had to highlight what sentences had an adverbial clause in it, after that I had to check if I got all my answers right, which I did!

Getting Involved

This week I think I got involved.
Firstly I helped out at the library on Thursday as it was winter tournament and some people who had librarian that on also.
Also this week has been a little chilly but I still got involved and played even though that wind was absolutely awful but running around and getting involved made me feel much, much better very quickly!
I also have been helping out in the library quite a lot this week during before school.
I really liked helping out before school as I actually enjoy issuing and returning books, oldly enough I find seeing the books people get out pretty interesting.
I Also got a sneak peek at what books were in the cupboard and I found the rest a series I've been dying to read for ages!
Overall I think I got involved this week

Role Model:
I was a role model because I got involved during lunchtime instead of sitting and talking which would make me even more cold.

Care Value:
The care value I used was Active thinking as I think I did a pretty good job at helping!

Leadership Trait:
The leadership trait I used was Resilience because even though it was very windy and cold some days I still got involved.

Kapa Haka

Today I had Kapa Haka.
This session was a little different to all the other ones as it was shorter which felt weird as we've been doing it for and hour and a half for a while so it felt weird to have a short session.
But when I walked into the hall I noticed lots of classes waiting for us and then I realised we're performing to them!
I was really nervous at first as we've never performed to a class, only the office ladys.
So I went to go and sit down in my starting position to sing our first song.
After that it was what I was most nervous for, THE POI SONG!
The only reason I was nervous was because I really didn't want to mess up in front of everyone.
Thankfully I didn't mess up which was very relieving and at last we did our school song.
After that we had feedback from the students which was good!
After all the feedback we had more people coming in, except they were little kids.
I didn't feel as nervous because I'd already performed and I was ready!
I didn't mess up through out performance which felt good and of course we had some more feedback.
Overall I feel very prepared for the cultural festival and actually excited to go and perform at it.

Role Model:
I was a role model because I was quiet before we performed to role model to little kids.

Care Value:
The care value I showed was Active Thinking because I had to be quick with transitions and had to make sure I was in a good positions for the poi so my poi didn't hit anyone else.

Leadership trait:
The leadership trait I showed was Excellence because I tried my best and it paid off as I didn't mess up!

Librarian

As it was raining today I sadly couldn't read to juniors as they don't come to the library so instead Alicia and I did some jobs around the library.
We brought some books over to room 22 and put some things away.
I was a little disappointed that I couldn't read to the juniors as I do enjoy doing it and also I didn't think I couldn't blog but then I realised I did help out in the library this week!
On Thursday I did librarian inside as it was the winter tournament and people who were on that day couldn't come so I offered to help out.
I put away books that had been returned and I also issued and returned books.
I noticed that there were a lot of people in the library, more then I expected so I did have to do rather a lot of helping.
My favourite thing to do was issuing and returning books.
It was also good I brought my current book I was reading so I could read after I put all the books away.
Overall I really did enjoy helping out inside the library

Role Model:
I was a role model because I made sure to put the books away respectfully and in the right place.

Care Values:
The care value I showed was Community Because it was good I got involved and helped Mrs Ward out!

Leadership Trait
The leadership trait I showed was Active thinker because it as my first time doing librarian on a lunchtime inside.

Librarian

Today I had Librarian.
Today we decided to bring the bean bags out as it was raining or damp outside, it was just very windy!
We just bring the books that we think are most popular with the little kids, that usually consists of Barbie books and spot the dog books.
This time, I actually read to quite a few little kids, I read to around 3-4 which doesn't sound like a lot but sometimes they can be a bit much with what book you read!
I do find it rather hard bringing the bean bags sometimes because when you leave them for even 2 seconds, a little kid just starts jumping all over it.
Also before Librarian both Alicia and I found two little kids who were injured, so we both brought them over to Mr Mcaven.
After reading to the little kids we just brought the bean bags back to the library and we also returned the books.
This time, I found that little kids and bean bags don't always mix well together, just by carrying a bean bags I still have little kids grabbing the bean bags!
Overall It was a very good session of librarian.

Role Model:
I was a role model by taking care of the bean bags and being respectful of them.

leadership Trait:
The leadership trait I showed was Active thinker because I had to make sure to be "fair" with bean bag space.

Care Value:
The care value I showed was excellence because I actually read all the books this time even though some of them were shorter than others!

Kapa Haka

Today I had Kapa Haka.
We practised our performance for the cultural festival which is coming closer and closer!
I starting to feel even more nervous as its coming up soon.
We ran through our performance over and over just to make sure everything's good.
After running through we had Mrs Martin, Mrs Hall and some of the office lady come and watch our cultural festival performance.
After that, they told us it was really good Which is nice!
After doing our practising we got our outfits for the cultural festival, so we had to line up tallest to shortest.
I was closer to the front as I'm pretty tall, which was actually to my advantage as the tall people got to go first!
When I got my outfit it was a good fit, sadly I didn't get a top with straps on it but, that was okay. After waiting for everyone else to change into their outfit we just sang songs.
Even though I didn't really know the lyrics to some of the songs we were singing, I still sang the words I did know!
Overall It was a good kapa haka practice as we got to practise in front of people.

Role Model:
I was a role model because I was waiting patiently for everyone else to wait and get their outfit even though it did take very long.

Care Value:
The Care Value I showed was Active thinking because I am a rather awkward height when it comes to the Kapa Haka skirts, there either too long or too short so I just went for a long one that I have to pull up which is okay.

Leadership trait:
The leadership trait I showed was resilience. Because I was really nervous performing in front of people but I didn't give up even though I did make some mistakes.

Librarian

Today I had librarian.
Firstly we chose our book which were basically Barbie books, which is quite rare as there's never any barbie books people usually get them out.
We decided not to bring bean bags because the weather looked very murky and like it could rain and we wouldn't want to get the bean bags wet.
As usual I read to a mixture of people as little kids come and go.
I read around 5 books and I read to around 4-5 little kids but it was all at different times as some of them leave.
There was a problem with one of the books going missing because halfway through reading a book one of the girls I was reading to told me someone had took a book and ran of with it.
I usually don't mind little kids taking books and reading them to themselves but they always read very close to where I am.
But this girl was on the other side of the junior area.
So I got up and briefly asked for her to give the book back after a short while she did.
Overall librarian went very well even though there were some "malfunctions."
I also did enjoy reading the books too!

Leadership Trait:
The leadership trait I used was active thinker because it was best not to bring the bean bags in case it rain.

Care Value:
The care value I used was Respect as I was very polite to the girl who took the book even though it did get a little frustrating as it took more then one go to ask for the book.

Role Model:
I was a role model because The same girl who took the book ran up to Alicia and I when we were heading back to the library so I said to her that she can have the book if she comes to the library to read it.

Kapa Haka

I have just got back from Kapa Haka and I think it went very well!
It was an hour long practice for me and the senior girls but the girls who are doing short poi had to stay behind to perfect their actions.
We also learnt some new commands which are for when we put out pois away.
Whats we did was we mainly ran through out cultural festival performance and we did some stuff to do with transitions.
I think I went good because I made sure to listen and be quiet after transitions because there was a lot of talking before we did out school song, but thankfully none of the seniors were talking!
In the poi song I found I did mess up quite a bit at one point during the song, after that I made sure to get my timing better.
In one of our songs we do stepping and I thought I was pretty much in time with everyone else.
To improve I'm going to practice my poi this weekend because there is always room for improvement!
Overall I think this weeks 1 hour session went well.

Role Model:
I was a role model because when before we were going to perform the school song people were talking but I was quiet.

Leadership:
The leadership trait I used was active thinking because at the start I made sure to ask the person in front of me to move over a little so I could be behind them.

Care Value:
The Care Value I used was respect because I was resilient during poi as this session I did mess up quite a bit.

Librarian

Today I had librarian.
As usual I read to little kids but the library wasn't open today but we could still do it anyway.
We decided not to bring bean bags as the deck wasn't open.
I read to lots of different little kids as they tend to come and go.
The books i read were Barbie, Spot, Wacky Wednesday and a fairy tale book.
I actually re-read the Barbie books because when different groups of little kids came they wanted me to read them the barbie books which was okay I guess but it got very boring after a while.
Reading to little kids can be rather interesting I came to find this session because one second you have a parade of little kids and then the next second your reading to 2 little kids.
Near the end of librarian I noticed Alicia still hadn't finished the book she was reading to the little kids and I saw a little girl sitting on her own so I offered to read to her sadly i had to go and return the book to the library otherwise i would be very late for class.
Overall it was a good session reading to little kids.

Leadership trait:
The leadership trait I used was motivational because i encouraged some of the kids to be read to as they weren't doing anything or weren't getting involved as much.

Care Value:
The Care Value I used was excellence as i did librarian a lot longer then I would normally but I didn't mind.

Role Model:
I was a role model because I helped the kids get involved and do something for their lunchtime.

Kapa haka

Today I had Kapa Haka.
Today's practice was just a run down of our cultural festival performance.
We ran through our songs and our advise was to sing a little louder.
I found this practice my poi got tangled with other and I did hit my self with the poi quite a few times!
The teachers said that the senior girls did a very good job on the poi and had a good volume so that was good!
They were also talking about the short pois and that made me remember last year when I did short poi, I think I remember the actions!
For poi I'm going to practice this weekend so I can master the one move I need to perfect.
Overall I think I did well at kapa haka but I didn't have a very good poi day though as I hit my head a lot!

Care Value:
The Care Value I used was Active thinker because in one of the songs we have to take steps and the first time we ran through this song I took steps that were to small so next time i took steps that were a little bigger and it was much better!

Role Model:
I was a Role Model because I made sure to always listen to the commands as we were running through the cultural performance.

Leadership Trait:
The leadership trait I used was resilience because I didn't do very well in our poi song the first time we practiced it but the second time I actually did a lot better!

Being A Role Model To The Little Kids.

Today I garden to table, it was my first time gardening and I wasn't sure if I was going to like it.
One everyone got there I got assigned 2 little kids, one of the little kids didn't speak much  English as it wasn't here first language.
So I had to try really hard as I'm not really a massive fan of gardening as I really didn't like the idea of getting dirty or anything like that.
My job with the little kids was pulling the leeks and then putting then making the soil even again.
I actually liked it more then I thought I would as we got to wear gloves and I just mainly had to pull out the leeks that the little kids couldn't pull out.
I also had to make sure that when they pulled the leeks out they shook the dirt of sensibly, so I had to keep role modelling how to do that as they found it very funny when they shook the dirt off.
After all the gardening I had to help out with cooking which I enjoyed as I did cooking last week.
Overall gardening was challenging in a good way and I actually enjoyed it.

Role model:
I was a role model as I had to show them how to do some of the gardening as they were having a bit of trouble at some of it.

Care Values:
The Care Value I used was Active Thinking because I had to actively think about communicating to the little girl who couldn't speak much English.

Leadership Trait
The leadership trait I used was resilience as I couldn't give up even when it got a little tiring (as little kids can be very difficult.)
